Someone goes into the roof space, measures the existing depth, checks the eaves ventilation and photographs anything worth showing you. This is the part most companies skip.

Most lofts take a day. We keep the eaves clear, lag anything that could freeze, and leave the place as we found it.

The right material for the roof, not the price list
There is no single best loft insulation. A 1960s semi with an open loft and a pre-1919 stone terrace with slate on sarking need different answers, and a converted attic needs a different approach again.

Easy Insulation Scotland is a family-run home insulation business that has been working across Scotland since 2016. We are run by Something Easy Ltd from our base on West George Street in Glasgow, and we are open 9am to 7pm, seven days a week.
Our main service is loft insulation. Scottish homes vary enormously, from post-war semis with open lofts to traditional stone terraces with slate roofs, and there is no single insulation that suits them all. That is why we install a range of materials. EasyQuilt is a thin, multi-layer insulation that works well where space is limited. Glass mineral wool is a proven, cost-effective choice for most accessible lofts. Natural sheep wool and hemp are breathable, eco-friendly options that manage moisture well, which makes them a strong fit for older properties. We also install acoustic insulation for homeowners who want to reduce noise as well as heat loss.
Whatever material is right for your home, the aim is the same: to cut heat loss through the roof, keep your home warmer in winter, help control condensation and damp, and improve your EPC rating, which can also make a difference when you come to sell or remortgage.
Every job starts with a free, no-obligation survey. We do not carry out grant-funded installations. We are not registered under the Scottish Government schemes, so all of our work is paid for privately.
We are telling you this on the homepage rather than after a survey, because if a scheme covers your loft you will be better off with an accredited installer than with us.
There is real funding available, and it is worth checking what you qualify for before paying anyone, ourselves included. ECO4 and Warmer Homes Scotland support low-income and vulnerable households, and the Great British Insulation Scheme closed to new applications on 31 March 2026. ECO4 was extended to 31 December 2026 and can cover the work entirely for qualifying households.

No. The survey and the written quote are free and carry no obligation. If we look at your loft and conclude the work is not worth doing, we will say so and there is nothing to pay.
Yes. It is the whole point. Without going up there nobody can tell you what depth you have, whether it is compressed, whether the eaves are blocked or whether there is a cable buried under the existing layer. A quote given from the driveway is a guess.
Usually not. If the existing layer is dry and clean, topping up over it is cheaper and works perfectly well. Removal is warranted where material has been contaminated by vermin, soaked through a leak, or has degraded. Be wary of any quote that treats removal as automatic, because it adds several hundred pounds.
Yes, with a raised boarding system that holds the deck above the full insulation depth. Boarding screwed straight onto the joists crushes the layer underneath and wastes most of what you paid for.
No, and we would advise against it in a Scottish loft. It can trap moisture against the roof timbers, it makes future inspection and repair difficult, and it has caused real problems for homeowners at the point of sale or remortgage. It is also not funded under the Home Energy Scotland scheme.
