Terms and conditions
The terms on which we survey, quote and carry out loft insulation work.
1. Who you are contracting with
Work is carried out by Something Easy Ltd, trading as Easy Insulation Scotland, registered in Scotland under number SC533644, registered office 48 West George Street, Glasgow, G2 1BP.
2. Surveys and quotations
Surveys are free and carry no obligation. We will not ask you to sign anything at the survey, and there is no charge if you decide not to proceed.
A quotation is based on what was visible and accessible at the time of survey. It is valid for [CONFIRM: 30 days] unless stated otherwise. Prices include VAT where applicable.
If the roof space cannot be safely accessed, we will tell you rather than guess at a price.
3. Your right to cancel
Because your contract with us is normally agreed at your home or at a distance rather than at our premises, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. You do not need to give a reason.
The 14 days run from the day the contract is made. To cancel, tell us in writing at info@insulation-scotland.co.uk or by post. We will refund any payment within 14 days of being told.
If you ask us in writing to begin work inside the 14-day period and then cancel, you may be charged for the work carried out up to that point. We will always tell you this before starting.
4. Price and payment
The price is the amount in your written quotation. [CONFIRM: deposit terms, amount and when due, or state that no deposit is taken.]

We will not ask for payment in full before work begins.
5. Access and preparation
You agree to give us safe access to the loft on the agreed date, and to clear stored items from the roof space beforehand unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. If the loft is not clear and we cannot work, we may charge a reasonable call-out fee.
Please tell us in advance about anything relevant, such as known damp, previous insulation problems, asbestos, or wiring you have concerns about.
6. Things we cannot see until we start
Occasionally work uncovers something that was not visible at survey: asbestos-containing material, vermin infestation, live wiring buried in existing insulation, an active roof leak, or structural defects.
Where that happens we will stop, explain what we have found and what it means for the price, and get your agreement in writing before continuing. We will never carry out extra chargeable work without asking you first.
Where the safest course is to stop entirely, asbestos being the obvious example, we will do that and refer you to an appropriate specialist.
7. Ventilation and condensation
Loft insulation makes the roof space colder, which makes adequate ventilation important. We maintain clear ventilation paths at the eaves as part of every installation.
We cannot accept responsibility for condensation arising from pre-existing defects in the roof, from blocked or absent ventilation we were not permitted to correct, or from moisture generated within the property, for example from unvented bathrooms or tumble dryers.
8. Warranty
Our workmanship is guaranteed for [CONFIRM: number of years] from completion. Insulation materials carry the manufacturer's own guarantee, which we will pass on to you.
The warranty covers defects in our installation. It does not cover damage caused by other trades, alterations made after we leave, storm or flood damage, or normal deterioration of the building.
Full warranty terms are supplied in writing with your quotation.
9. Our liability
We carry public liability insurance. [CONFIRM: insurer and level of cover.]
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.
10. Grant funding
We are not registered under the Scottish Government insulation funding schemes and cannot arrange grant-funded installations. Any work we carry out is paid for privately. 11. Complaints
If something is not right, tell us. Email info@insulation-scotland.co.uk or call 0800 433 2068 and we will acknowledge within [CONFIRM: 5 working days] and set out how we intend to resolve it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Scots law, and any dispute may be brought before the Scottish courts.
